Hello, Believe it or not school is right around the corner. Some people may say that this was a quick summer, some may say they can’t wait for school to start and yet some may say that this was a quick summer but are glad school is getting ready to start. Yes it was a quick summer but a very full one. We had a great VBS, three great trips with Elementary age kids to Camp Illiana and this Friday, August 5th we are having our final blast. We are collaborating with the Rec Ctr and having a Family Fun Night at Yellow Creek Park. Here are the details:

Where: Yellow Creek Park shelter 3 (next to the spraypark).

When: 5:30 until 8:00 (hot dogs and burgers served at 6:00).

What to bring: boys a 2 liter soft drink and girls a bag of chips or a dessert item.

Who: All OCC kids and their families.

We will have 2 inflatables for a great time.

Wednesday Evening Activities

No Wednesday evening services tonight at OCC.  They’re calling for some severe weather to blow in through this afternoon and into the evening, so stay home and be safe tonight.  We’ll pick up with Hebrews 8 next Wednesday!

Fusion High School Ministries

Fusion Ministry News

We want to welcome you to our Fusion Worship Service that happen Sunday mornings in the high schoolroom at 9:45-11:00am.  Each week our service is filled with rockin’ student-led worship & Biblical teaching on topics that matter to teens.  You never know what else we might throw in –  funny videos, group discussion or crazy games.  Come check it out this week and see what you’ve been missing!

Come out to see what Financial Peace University is all about — Visit a class for FREE!

Anyone can visit our upcoming FPU class this Tuesday at no cost….it’s all about Cash Flow Planning.  Why not come out and see what this life changing course is all about? We provide child care and we have a quick meal at 5:30PM for those who show up early.

This Tuesday 6PM – 8PM, Room 321, Entrance A.

Elementary Ministries

Hello,

Warmer weather means summer is right around the corner. If summer is around the corner, so is VBS and Camp Illiana. In fact, VBS is June 27th – 30th and we are already taking registrations and have t-shirts available. The cost for a shirt is $8 and I would recommend getting them early because we may begin running out of sizes. We also need volunteers. If you have helped in the past, have thought about it in the past or are new and want to get involved, WE WANT YOU!! Really, we need you!!

As well Camp Illiana dates are as follows for Elementary age kids:

If you are going into 4th, 5th or 6th grade we are going June 5th through 9th.

If you are going into 2nd or 3rd grade we go July 15th – 16th.

And if you are going into Kindergarten or 1st grade we go July 23rd.

Registration forms are available. We have a great time and they always feed us well.

Foster Parent Cookout!

Attention Foster Parents of OCC or anyone interested in becoming a Foster Parent!  Join us on Friday, May 20th, 6p at Brad and Valli Rigling’s house for a pitch-in dinner!  We’ll provide the meat and childcare if you bring a side and/or dessert.  We’ll spend the evening sharing stories, offering encouragement and support, and talking about how we can minister to each year around.  If you have any questions, or would like more information, contact Donna Mayhew at 302-8057.  Hope to see you there!

Married Life Live!

Join us Sunday, May 15th from 5-6p in the Chapel for Married Life Live!  Your marriage is the most important relationship you have on this earth, take some time to invest in it.  The theme for this month is “Finish Together–Because I will stay with you, we can work out anything.”  Grab that special someone and come out for a night that’s certain to bring you closer together.  Childcare is provided!

Parents Night Out/T-Shirts/Brunch

Parents Night Out:

Parents, take a well-deserving break Friday, May 13th from 6-10pm. Your kids will enjoy fantastic activities like face painting, snacks, movies, games in the game, and much more!  The age and cost for birth to 8th grade is $10 per child. Drop off your child at the Rec. Center, Entrance F.

T-Shirts:

If you did not get the official Owensboro Christian Church T-shirt this weekend, there is no need to panic! We will have more available this coming weekend. We will have booths set up at Entrances B and D. All t-shirts are $10.

Sunday Afternoon Brunch:

May 22nd, after the 9:45 and 11:15am services, we are inviting you and your entire family to brunch. This is not an ordinary brunch, in additional to great food, we will have music, a Sweet Shop with chocolates and cakes, and prizes to win. Adults are $7 and children are $4. Come out and join us for great food and fellowship!

US Tornado Relief Project

As in the past, OCC is working with IDES (International Disaster Emergency Services) to help those who have been affected by the recent tornadoes. At the present time, funds are being collected to help with the people who are in need in the Alabama area. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, simply place a check in the offering plate and on the “For” line write “US Tornadoes Fund.” IDES is presently assessing the needs in the affected area, which could lead to future service opportunities in the Alabama area. We will keep you up to date when additional service opportunities become available.

Come to Financial Peace University Tonight — For FREE!

Tonight we begin our new FPU series and you can attend Lesson #1 for FREE!   If you are on the fence about attending, this is a good way to see what goes on and what FPU is all about. Just let the folks at registration know that you are visiting the class — they will have extra lesson plans just for you. Hey, bring a friend who might be interested.
