Prison Ministry

The Owensboro Christian Church Prison Ministry is looking for someone to help lead the Wednesday night Men’s Bible Study. This incredible outreach opportunity is geared towards those who need to know and experience the love of Christ in a very real and personal way. If you are interested in serving in this ministry, please contact Shawn Green in the church office or sgreen@owensborochristian.org.

Harvest Day Volunteer Registration

The 3rd Annual Harvest Day is coming Saturday, Oct. 30th from 9a-3p and we need your help!  If you’re interested in volunteering for this great event, stop by the Volunteer Registration booth outside of the Guest Cafe and get signed up!

What is Harvest Day?  It’s a one-day event designed to help meet the physical needs of those in our community by offering free clothes, a meal, haircuts, dental and eye exams, and so much more.  Over the last two years, we have served thousands of people in our community through the outreach of Harvest Day.  In addition to the one-day event, Harvest Day has also been the launching point on several new ministries at OCC that serve those in need in our community.

So come out and volunteer.  You’ll have a lot of fun and make a real difference in someone’s life!

Community Outreach Opportunity!

Our community’s working low to moderate income families can each save $175-$215 by having their income taxes prepared at one of the Green River Asset Building Coalition’s nine free income tax preparation sites in the 2011 tax season.  To serve the 7,000 Owensboro families who are now eligible for free tax preparation service, more individuals are needed to serve as volunteer income tax preparers and screeners.  A degree in accounting is NOT required, but computer literacy is necessary.

To learn more, call the Hager Educational Foundation at (270) 685-1603.

Harvest Day 5K

The 2nd Annual Harvest Day 5K is coming Saturday, Oct. 2nd!

What is the Harvest Day 5K?  It’s more than just a run/walk, it’s a chance to give back to our community.  Money raised through registration will go towards helping those who are in need through our 3rd Annual Harvest Day held in October.

So come out on Saturday, Oct. 2nd and run or walk with us.  Your body may be sore after 3.1 miles, but your heart will feel good knowing you made a real difference in someones life!
